FAQ's

Is The Color Run timed?
It is not a timed event.  Runners tend to take their sweet time out there and we realized no one really cares about their speed. We suggest self-timing for anyone desiring a finish time.

What should I wear to a Color Run?
Obviously clothes... duh! Seriously though, wear what ever you feel is appropriate for you to complete the 3.1 mile course comfortably and we recommend lots of white!

How mandatory is the “white clothing" dress code for the start of the race? Let just say it is flexible. It is really just more fun to run starting in white and ending in color!

How is the color administered along the course?  You will see smiling faces along the course at every 1K called "Color Zones" throwing colorful powder by hand to ensure that you look like you ran through a beautiful rainbow by the time you cross the finish line.

Is the Color Powder safe for me?
YES! The Color Powder is made from food grade cornstarch and use 100% FD&C dyes. Plus it is made in the U.S.A.

Do the  “Color Zones” affect runner vision? Or breathing?
As with any substance, you want to keep it out of your eyes and our color throwers make sure to aim low as you pass by.  Make sure to wear your provided swag gear sunglasses to help protect your eyes and the bandana or dust mask for your mouth

Will the color ruin clothes or running shoes?
The color does mostly wash out after the event.  As with anything dirty, the sooner you wash it the better. We suggest wearing items that you wouldn’t mind getting colorful.  If you would like to preserve the color in your running shirt, spray it with vinegar and iron it.  If you wash your shirt….the color will eventually come out.  For FULL color cleaning ideas and tips, check THIS LINK out!

What is the Color Party?
At race day check in/registration runners will be given (if pre-registered by May 22nd) a random colored individual packet of powder. At the finish of the race all racers gather together and toss they powder into the area to create a beautiful powder cloud! Additional powder packets will be available to purchase if you didn't register

Can anyone participate in the Color Party?
YES! Additional packets of powder will be available to purchase for $5 for those that did not per-register or for anyone else that wishes to participate in the Color Party!

Can I run with a jogging stroller and my kids?
On one condition…if you are prepared to be one of the hippest moms/dads on the planet!

Can I run with my dog/cat/turtle?
For the safety of our runners and animal friends, we do not allow animals at any of our races:(

Is there an age limit for younger runners?
No age limits! If they can cover (running, jogging, walking, strolling) the three miles of our course, they can absolutely participate! Remember though, children under 12 will need to be accompanied by an adult (18+)

Do you have “cleaning stations” at the finish after party?
We have air blown color cleaning at the finish line. With a good dusting off, you aren’t 100% clean, but you are good for the drive home.  It is actually pretty fun to see people still colorful around town after the event.  It is like a badge of honor!

How does the color affect the inside of cars?
Most people bring some towels for the insides of their cars, or a change of clothes just in case.

Can spectators attend the post-race Finish Festival?
Absolutely.  We will have The Color Run powder packets available first come/first serve for everyone to purchase.  You may want to warn them though… they ain’t coming out of The Color Run party clean!

Are cameras and phones safe to have in the color zones?
Our race photographers are totally fine shooting from a medium distance (25-50 feet).  If you want to get shots right in the midst of the color we recommend covering cameras/phones with plastic wrap.

Are there refunds?
If an event is held as advertised, we cannot issue refunds.  The logistics of setting up and planning the event make it impossible.  Just make sure you are good to go before signing up.

What happens if there is bad weather?
A little rain won't stop us! It even makes the color brighter! Keep up to date on Facebook.com/WaycrossColorRun
